A mosque i have been visiting
Bismillah
My experiences with a mosque i have been visiting recently (in the uk).
Overall it is positive alhamdulilah (thank God).
Basically those with influence have recognized that the root of our problem are our imams ( those who lead prayers and give sermons).
This is a major step for any mosque to realize.
From this realization they then brought in a younger imam full of love and goodness. Who started teaching about love instead of propagating fear which those useless imams do mostly. Because they don't know love i think. Maybe no one loved them (or very few).
I won't even point out that the young imam speaks English while that imported one doesn't. That's a given unfortunately and quite common i think. And it is more a reflection of the intellect of the mosque committee than the imams themselves. Because they choose those people and bring them in.My feelings are that mosque committees are mainly comprised of older generations that are stuck in the past but like to inflate their egos by being in charge of something. I'm sure not all are like that but i think this is the norm.
So they bring in imams from outside as this way they are the ones who have control and not that imams. I think this Is the ploy. And when the imam can't speak English then they are definitely in control.
So the solution for progress i think is to get the committees to change themselves. To forget about love of being in charge and focus instead on doing good to their society ( both the Muslim and the non Muslim).
To bring in young English speaking imams who are trained in the uk ( not abroad) so that what they say is relevant to this society and they have awareness of what's going on.
Obviously the mosque committees fear politics getting mixed in, which is why i think they choose the easy option of delivering useless irrelevant sermons in foreign languages so that no one understands anything and they can remain in charge of a mosque. But this is not the purpose of the mosque or the sermon. It's meant to give advice to the community and guide it in the best way so that problems get avoided. At the moment we are just taught to put our heads in the sand and hope that problems will go away on their own. Yep we have become masters at being super stupid.
So it's clear that things need to change with our mosque committees. We wont tolerate ego loving idiots anymore.
We need to use the houses of Allah for doing good to humanity. Rather than hijack them for our ego.
So alhamdulilah i feel this mosque i visited is going in a good direction. They still have the other imam there but at least they are making changes. I hope all mosque committees move in this positive direction.
I don't want to mention the mosque name or location so as not to bring problems to them, so please don't ask me.
Many thanks in advance
