Draft letter to British public from moderate Muslims
Alsalamu alaykum my Muslim brothers and sisters. I have written this letter to the British public in the hope of informing of our efforts to combat the likes of Isis and to suggest practical steps that can help in that direction. My aim is to have as many Muslims sign it so that it can carry more weight Inshalah and maybe the media pick it up. This way people can see we are active and not passive or quiet towards the evil of Isis.
Also feel free to suggest changes or additions etc.
If you agree to signing please put your name as a comment together with the draft version number as there maybe many versions of the draft. Also add your comments as you please.
Thankyou

Letter to the British Public from moderate Muslims.
Letter to the British Public from moderate Muslims.
Draft version: 1.0
Dear British Public,
We are writing to you to give you our views about what is going on in the world today so that you have some idea of what we think. Muslims tend to be a quiet lot in general but with all the Islam bashing going in the media we can no longer afford to be quiet. As this gives the wrong impression, that we are ok with what is going on. And ok with it we are not.
So we thought to write to you to tell you how we feel about extremists who have nothing to do with Islam apart from claim they are associated with it and carry Islamic writings and Islamic names. i.e. have the outside appearance of Islam but the inside appearance of devil worshippers. The opposite of Islam which in the Qur'an states that it was sent as a mercy to mankind. Not a terror to mankind.
"And We have not sent you except as a mercy to mankind"
(Qur'an Chapter (Al-Anbiyah) 21: verse 107)
"And We have not sent you except as a mercy to mankind"
(Qur'an Chapter (Al-Anbiyah) 21: verse 107)
We even have a saying of the prophet Mohammed warning us about Isis from 1400 years back where in he describes them very explicitly with how they dress and how they name themselves and that they use the term The State (dawla in Arabic) and his advice is not to join them as they are evil. The details are in this video after minute 14. It is a recent Friday sermon about this topic by a famous American convert scholar called Hamza Yusuf.
So what is going on? Why despite what the Qur'an is saying and what the prophet says we still have Muslims naive enough to think that those people are good people. And worth defending and joining. This is our problem and task. But it is not easy. And the moment we talk to them they think we are siding with the western governments and are traitors to Islam etc. Because they see the western governments support Israel, attack Muslim land and steal resources and so think anyone who is anti western like Isis must be right and anyone who is against those who claim to be fighting the West must be wrong. So our voices don't get listened to that much. And being young and angry they prefer people of physical action than people of words. They are in a phase !
So it's quite frustrating talking with them actually. You give them lots of proofs and they couldn't care less many of them. Very sad.
Anyway this in general is our situation.
What can be done about this situation practically?
1- If the Muslim youth saw that the British people were aware of the foreign policies of western governments and could understand the anger that Muslims feels and show empathy to them then at least this would convince them that western people do have a conscience and are aware of the evil that their governments are doing too. Especially with the continued support of the Israeli invasion of Palestine. And the good thing is that many British people already do that and we thank you for that. We know that western governments will never admit that they do evil abroad because there are other agendas involved. Plus how will they send their armies if they admit they are using them to do evil. So they have to uphold their state of denial at all costs and continue lying and spinning.
At the end there are hidden agendas that must be implemented and what we are told through the mass media will be a cover for it in one way or other. One example of a hidden agenda is the rise of Islam. Islam to those deep in the establishment and who have interests in maintaining the status quo is viewed like another communism. If it got reestablished it may spread and affect their power and interests. Hence it has been targeted and what we see everyday in our newspapers is the result of this targeting. Articles that continually demonize Islam so as to ensure no western person can ever think of liking it. And for some of us moderates we even think that groups like Isis have been deliberately created by western governments in order to help with this demonizing of Islam. And i think they have been successful so far. And there are some non Muslims who think this way too. Because by using terrorism as an excuse it can be used very effectively to curtail public freedoms for their own citizens. Something they couldn't have done easily any other way. When they repeat that they are again raising the terror threat level to Amber and then Red etc all of these can be viewed as tools for manipulating the public through the use of fear. So you may find a new threat level appears that requires the closure of internet sites. As the alternative media may be viewed as a threat to them. They don't like their position challenged or to have other outlets opposing the government line. And social media is growing rapidly and may be become more powerful than traditional media like newspapers, tv and radio. Especially with the introduction of the smart phone. So they maybe planning for ways to control the internet. They know it is a threat to them. But they will have to be very subtle about it because they know how the people can react.
So you have the rise of Islam as one hidden agenda and the second being to silence the alternative media as it exposes the lies contained in the traditional mass media. Here is an example YouTube clip from an alternative media source.
How Isis is connected to US gov:
We are not saying that everything the alternative media says is true. Much of it maybe untrue. But we shouldn't be naive and think everything the government says is true either. We need to look at both sides of the coin first. And then decide. The alternative media is the other side. And we should let the evidence speak.
2- We need to be less trusting of what the politicians say, search for the hidden agendas and why we are not being told the truth. We can't trust them anymore unfortunately. This way they will realise that the public is now fully on to them and they will either have to stop lying or lie in even more subtle ways. Or bring in the terrorism threat level technique and basically impose martial law on the public and this way stifle any opposition. This may not be too far from reality. If they get desperate then this maybe their only way. Sounds scary but better to know than not to know.
3-Find out about Islam and speak to those deluded Muslim youth who support extremists yourself and show them that their understanding is competently against the Qur'an. If they don't listen to us moderates, maybe they will listen to you especially if you put them on the spot and ask them to explain the many verses about goodness , mercy and forgiveness in the Qur'an. And free Qur'ans are available to non Muslims. Google "The Qur'an Project" for instance or you might find them being given out in your high street or your local mosque might have it.
At least this way you will hopefully realise that Islam is in no way evil or demonic but the opposite as it asks us to enjoin good and forbid evil. Be truthful and humble etc. Thank you for reading this. We hope we can all work together for a better Britain. To enjoin good and forbid evil. And say the truth without fear or intimidation. A positive and awake society.
PS: Just to set the record straight:
We are not here to impose Islam or sharia law on anyone. If any society wants Islam it has to choose it for itself and implement for itself. We can advise and encourage but we can't force.
Qur'anic 2:256 "There is no compulsion in religion"
But to be honest at the moment we have so many big problems amongst ourselves that we need to sort these out before we try to help any society implement Islam. And Muslims don't even agree on the right understanding of it. That is why we have these extremist views appearing. So groups like the EDL etc can relax.
