My main advice to the Muslims in 2020

Bismillah

Dear Muslims. From what I’ve seen (living in the uk) I think our main problem is to do with the internal picture of Allah that we have within ourselves. In general I believe it’s not a good one. ie it doesn’t reflect the true Allah. It is instead a very distorted representation of Allah unfortunately. How is this representation? I think it’s one that is marked by fear mainly. I think unfortunately we have a picture of him like a demon or very angry lord. Someone who just wants his creatures to obey him but he isn’t able to achieve that. So he becomes more angry. Obviously not all Muslims carry this view but I think this one is quite common unfortunately. Fear becomes the main driver to religious actions.

Why do we have this distorted demon like view of Allah swt ?

I think the answer is that mainly of our sheiks are themselves demon like unfortunately. And so they picture Allah to be like them. And they then project this distorted picture to us during Friday sermons. This especially true with those that don’t seem able to smile. Especially those taught Saudi money, who tend to be Wahabi / Salafi types because this is what is prevalent in Saudi. A kind of arrogant and hate filled type of Islam in many cases. Especially with government trained scholars. This training is then passed globally via Saudi money to non Saudi sheikhs whom we may regularly see at our mosques ( or have regularly seen). They’re favourite topic tends to be Bid’aa (innovation) and hell fire. As well as blind obedience to the leader even if they are oppressive. Unfortunately this dark version of Islam has got transferred to many of us, as we have sat through many of their Friday sermons, and so the distortion and darkness passes into us.

What is the result of carrying this type of Islam ?

I think we become abnormal humans. We become not very good as humans. Basically just thinking about ourselves and family only and not much care about the larger society. A kind of selfishness comes in I think. Also we may become unfriendly.

What is the solution ?

We need to shun this fear based image of Allah that has been transferred to us and try to find out what the real Allah is like. We should find out that it’s not about fear but instead about knowledge. About knowing how our creator is. What kind of personality it/he has. We need to think about it’s attributes more. The Light (AlNoor), the merciful , the forgiving , the patient , the Good, the Loving (alwadood), the all merciful ( alrahman), the Kind (alkareem), the beautiful etc.

Also we need to think about what he wants us to do here in this life ? Is it just praying, fasting, working and having a family or is there more ? Do we want to know more about him or not ? Do we interpret his words in the Quran in a good way or do we think he is being angry and shouting ? And busy handing out punishments. What do we see the purpose of this life is ? Just to worship him in obedience or more ? Does he really need our obedience or what ? What is the point of everything?

My answers are the following, if you are interested:

1- He doesn’t need our obedience

2- He wants us to be good people and do good.

3- He doesn’t want us to lie. He wants truthful people.

4- He wants us to think about life.

5- He wants us to get closer to the truth of things.

6- He wants us to take an interest in the problems of humanity and to try to work to solve them.

7- He would like us to be brave.

If we change our internal image of our Creator into a good one then we too will become good. This is how it works. But keeping the bad ugly image means we also will look ugly unfortunately. So it’s a good time to change and improve.
