The Story of the Muhammadi Muslims So far
I am using Muhammadi to label the Muslims of prophet Muhammed pbuh as in Muhammadi Islam (MI) all prophets were Muslim. Jesus was a Muslim, Abraham, Moses , Noah , Adam etc all were Muslim (meaning submitting or surrender their will to the Divine's). So in MI, the Jesus-led Muslims changed their holy text (eg making Jesus a son/god) and became known as Christians, whilst Moses-led Muslims also changed their texts and became known as Jews. In MI ,the holy book has been protected from change (and this may be a signal that it is the last communication before judgement day, and that it is for all mankind). This way of seeing Islam is a bit confusing but I believe it is closest to the truth, because all of the Divine's messengers and prophets were submitters (ie Muslim), including their original followers. So Islam is the universal faith of the Divine (ie that the Divine has sent down for mankind).
So now, what has happened to MI and Muhammadan Muslims (MM). The Divine sent its last messenger to mankind and preserved its book from alteration, and the prophet did his job and Islam was reintroduced to the world from the Arab location (why the Divine chose the Arabs for his last communication you will have to ask him/it). This then spread (without forced conversion). However , maybe about 30 years after the prophet died, things went downhill as politically the way the ruler (Caliph) was chosen changed from free election to forced hereditary kingship (the first Ummayed Caliph Muawiya forced his son into power, killing anyone who opposed his decision). From this point onwards things started to deteriorate, although in a gradual fashion. Priests began to be used to legitimise kingship instead of teaching truth about reality and the faith started to become dictatorial and about encouraging obedience even if the ruler was corrupt. Obviously this will not be communicated in the history books as they were written by obedient servants of the kings. And anyone who didnt like this would be cast as an infidel and a death penalty was introduced for infidels (i believe) so as to remove any opposition in this way.
So basically true Islam started to disappear and things started to regress. This is something that MM would not want to accept but i think its basically true. However there were positive times during this period (eg MI in Spain, and certain periods in the three dynasties that ruled ie Ummayed, Abbasi and Uthmani). This downward progression was also noted in the prophets prophecies about the future. So it isnt a surprise. When the MM became very weak their enemy, Christendom , was able to defeat them and dismantle their political system completely, as well as divide them up into about 40 smaller parts (the nation states exist today). They appointed loyal puppets and dictators to rule indirectly on their behalf. Hence any resurgence of islamic political movement was heavily countered by those dictators and very ruthlessly.
At the time of writing only Turkey has managed to successfully establish itself with an islamic political party led by president Erdogan , but they nearly had a successful coup attempt by the CIA in 2016, however by the Divine's wish they were protected and now Turkey is growing and expanding fast, despite many pressures to hinder it. The other muslim parties were toppled by successful coups (eg Egypt, Algeria and now possibly Tunisia as things are hotting up for the Nadha islamic party there).
So the question is: Given that we MM have been severely defeated by Christendom (who has itself today changed into aggressive materialism and left faith more or less), what should the muslim nation states do? Can they revive themselves ? (Obviously yes because Turkey managed it, but it doesnt seem easy as there are many failures).
My principled analysis on what a muslim nation state should do is the following ( I will link this to the Turkish path too);
1- Looking at Allah, its creator, it should be asking why he/it allowed this to happen? Did we muslims deviate from islam so much that Allah wanted to remove our caliphate from us. Where we not worthy of it anymore? What happened to us? How did we deviate from the original teaching? What is the original teaching? Maybe we left it and so need to rediscover it? So we need to check that we really understand MI. If we find that we do not then we need to re-educate ourselves.
2- At the same time as re-education, the people of the nation states need to work together as one united society to make themselves into a stronger nation, so that they can do more and more things, rather than remain weak. They should also try to create bridges with other nations (muslim and non muslim) to further boost themselves economically and politically, so that they can become free and independent as a nation. Thus national unity is paramount here.
Point 2 implies that they need a political party that works on unifying the nation and working for its interests. So that they can gain their independence from the invading powers. (Clearly Turkey has managed this very well i believe)
Point 1 is more deep and requires us to really to understand the essence of the faith. For me this essence is about using the mind to understand the truth of our reality, and to free our minds from blind following or copying our forefathers' way in a blind way. We need to start having the new drive of searching for truth. This means that if islam isnt the truth then we need to leave islam, because truth is what is paramount and not islam. I think this is a very scary concept for many and as a result may not be able to achieve it. But i believe it is paramount that some of us do achieve this station. They will become the real directors of the future i think. Because they have totally freed themselves from anything that is not logic based (I can feel some may greatly dislike this statement). So what drives us should be only logic and pursuit of truth. It will be interesting to see where their ideas take them. For me , it has taken me to Islam but to a new understanding of it that is quite different from today's. I have a feeling that Erdogan and his party has made great leaps in this direction. This is because they did a lot of reviewing of their old thinking and introduced new ideas and principles which has changed their view of islam. They now talk about true islam versus untrue islam. So for me this appears in the view that a secular state is fine and should be acceptable to muslims. Also that people have total freedom of believe and can leave islam if they want to (ie no punishment for changing belief). As well as democracy as a tool to choosing politics and leadership for a nation. I think this is why Turkey has succeeded. The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt for example were not able to both unite the nation nor re-understand islam, hence they failed quickly.
Hope this helps
