Has not the time come for hizb ut tahrir (the party of liberation) to call for liberation from the ugly sectarianism?


I have a lot of respect for HT because they talk about unity. And because khilafah is the symbol of unity. But why have they jumped on the sectarian bandwagon and sided with one of the many sects instead of refusing all sectarianism and returning the ummah back to pure uncomplicated Islam. The Islam of all the prophets of Allah. Not just the last one peace be upon him. Which is to have no sects. Just schools of thought within the one body of the ummah. Within the one ummah, like how we where during his time peace be upon him and during the khilafah rashida.

Surely if we want unity and we all renounce our sects and just become just Muslim then this is a very easy way to unify? So what is it that is making us avoid this? Is It that we can no longer exist without being divided into sects? Even though our prophet never taught us to be divided into sects. And warned us against disunity and foretold us that we will become divided. Yet we still want to cling on being divided and think that this is part of the sunna. How foolish we are !

I therefore call on all who call themselves muslims to renounce their sect and become only Muslim and with no sect. Or better still make Islam our sect. We can have madhabs (schools of thought) but we don't need sects. These things only harm us and make us fight between each other. Only our enemies win with this. We just lose and appear stupid. So if you believe that unity is good then I call you to renounce all sects and start with renouncing your own. It's ok to be just Muslim.

But if you still want to have your sect then you can. But how are you helping with unity?  You are not. Are you?

What is Religion and how is it meant to Operate ?

Religion first of all is about thinking and questioning why we are here on this planet and in this existence. Once we know why we can then choose to live in the appropriate way in accordance with those reasons. The word choose is important cos we have been given free choice (God has given us this). So we can choose not to if we like too. This search for truth starts with is there really a higher power that created us and everything? (The one we call God or Allah or Jehovah etc). If we find that there really is such a power then we can ask about it. What is its nature. Why has it sent our souls here, to this planet and put us in the bodies that we are in. What is the point?
